Feast your eyes on this fabulous wedding at Bowden Hall, an absolute fusion of colour and style, where Stroud meets India. Raksha and Matt deliberately chose this venue due to its large function room where the space could easily accommodate all of their needs, for they had a Hindu ceremony in the morning followed by a traditional civil ceremony in the afternoon.
When I arrived at Bowden Hall I popped into the function room and WOW! it had been transformed, I hardly recognised it. I then went up to photograph Raksha getting ready and getting helped into her Hindu wedding dress, my goodness it was absolutely draw dropping, the richness of fabric and the attention to detail, just simply stunning and something you do not see everyday.
The guests started to arrive and everyone was so pleased to see each other with big hugs and happy body language, the ceremony began and it was a thrill to the senses, with sweet heady smells and mesmerising music, all gently co ordinated by the master of ceremony.
After the Hindu ceremony it was another change into the white wedding regalia, going into the traditional civil ceremony and wedding breakfast.
It was all go go go for this wedding and I loved every minute of it. Raksha and Matt did not choose a photographer who specialised in Hindu weddings but chose me, from the moment we met we got on, I was so enthusiastic and excited for their two weddings, that they went with their gut reaction and booked me. Thankfully the Hindu master of ceremony gently guided me through the important bits of the Hindu ceremony to make sure I didn’t miss anything, and with the traditional civil ceremony I was back in my comfort ground and happily clicked clicked clicked away. Really, for me though, it was all about capturing the atmosphere and the expressions of both weddings, submerging myself in the togetherness of it, whether it be a Hindu or a traditional white wedding, the colours, the happiness and the gathering of people, that’s what its all about.
